Where bikes rule
This marvellous 10min video tells the story of how Copenhagen gradually redesigned its traffic system to be more bike-friendly. It's a must-see for city planners everywhere.
As one of the contributors recounts, this didn't happen overnight. A bicycle revolution 40 years in the making . . .

5 thinking out louds:
smörebröd rulez!
I think the arguments are not the right ones to say the least.
Bikes are potential anarchists and brake the rules
They love to feel the wind in their hair
last but not least biking is simply the most communicative transport mean in cities
thanks for the post and thanks for the blog at all!
i live in Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, and I'm in a group of activists who are trying to "Copenhagenize" our 3-million-city. I see that your blog will be very useful for us! thanks for doing it and special thanks for doing it IN ENGLISH ;)
bravo! i live in the usa, possibly the most backward-thinking western culture when it comes to issues of environmental responsibility. this video and the copenhagen way of life are both so inspiring. thank you.
Thank you so much for creating this wonderful blog!
Posts and movies in your blog
impress me every time I enter,
they inspire me and remind me what a great kind of invention bicycle is.
Here, in Israel, there are lots of bike riders (as MTB, as road and urban bike riders, but still bike culture is not too developed (parking problems, no space on roads, no signs and rules). That's why blog like yours is so important. It increases awareness and helps people to accept bike riding as absolutly normal and usual thing.
Some friends of mine who worked in Denmark told me they really miss riding bike in Copenhagen.
As for me, Im totally jelaous about bike cycling culture in Europe :)
I hope things will get better here
in Israel, cities will become greener and citizens will become healthier :)
Till then I prefer mountains :)
And good luck to Viktor Zahreba in Ukraina (Im originally Russian, so we used to be neighbours once ;))
Thanks for all your comments! Good luck in Kiev, the US and in Israel!
