Bicicle - Suspended Animation

Frozen Bicicle
The Lakes - Søerne - are frozen over as per usual here in January. The bicycle above is going to have to wait for the spring thaw before getting fished out.

It's like that scene from Fellowship of the Ring. That's the ghost of a (Roman)warrior bike!

Lovely picture, but there's something distinctly creepy about it to. Makes me wonder if just a little further out, there isn't a frozen rider to go with it . . .

That is so typical of bikers, just leaving their trash wherever they feel like it and littering entire water systems. Makes me sick.

I can't imagine throwing a perfectly good bike in the river. I suppose when there are that many, they start to feel disposable. I am guessing it was stolen and disposed if.

w.v.- eintsa

are you not even an eintsa bit curious over who would throw away that bike?

In Japan bikes are considered somewhat disposable and they often end up in ditches and in the water like this one.

the bike was invariably tossed in the water by someone heading home, intoxicated, on a weekend. this is usually the case.

the owner didn't toss it in there and the mere suggestion is ridiculous. it's a newish bike.

you see the same thing in holland and, as mentioned, japan. the bike is disposible. it's demystified.

doesn't make chucking someone's bike in the lake right, but hey...

beats those car owners who abandon their old vechicles instead of scrapping them.

actually, i recall reading that hundreds and hundreds of bikes are fished out of the lakes and canals each year...

Typical 'anon' remark and suspiciously car-centric ;).

yup, I concur, in Amsterdam there's an around-the-clock city service that cleans the canals and the item that's fished out the most is the bicycle.
