Get Some New Shit

A cool photo taken by my mate Philippe on a visit to Berlin. An advert for a streetwear shop. Love the slogan: "Get some new shit at Sneakerspot.de". Advertising in a bike culture.

Here's a shot I took two days ago while in Victoria, BC for the weekend

When I read the title in my RSS I thought you had been hacked. Advertising here in the states is NOT ready for this. :(
Sweet... and look, they didn't even paint the tires!
I've seen a number of bike billboards on the West coast of Canada/USA, but they nearly always paint the whole bike: tires, chain, everything... I think it shows a lack of care for the machine itself and just shows it's a gimmick to them. But this is great... the bike still looks like you could just hop on and take off.
Why is painting the tyres and the chain bad? Modern tyres aren't going to be affected by the chemicals in paint, and the only part of the chain that moves is inside the metal. Granted, it might look daggy after a year in the sun. But you can always repaint. Heck, it might make the bike last longer.
Like dust, dirt and any other particles paint will actually increase the wear of your chain and therefore reduce its life-span.
And paint on your tyres is just uncool...;-P
you can buy painted chains these days and tyres come in a rainbow of colours.
People who paint bike chains also do eat yellow snow!
I think you'd have to pump up the tires first ...
I bought a bicycle at a thrift store that someone had painted entirely blue ... looks crappy. Good thing that I only wanted the fork and a few other parts ... big spender of $3
Otto, so you have evidence of this claim, or is it just your opinion? I find it hard to believe that paint has any measurable impact on wear. I could equally claim that not painting the chain makes it more prone to rusting, which forms particles which increase wear, and that by far the biggest cause of chain wear is too much oil attracting dust, which happens less when the chain is painted (because people will keep their chains clean because they like the paint colour).
(Or is this like wearing helmets?)
