Good Morning Copenhagen

I shot the morning traffic outside my window over 45 minutes yesterday. It was actually mostly for my own anthropological interest but I figured I slap it onto the internet.

It's long - 14 min or so - but there's nice music so make a coffee and relax. It's hynoptic to watch. The people riding past represent just about every corner of society. You'll be sure to see someone who resembles you in some strange way.

I had to edit it down for obvious reasons. Also, along this stretch of street it is quite far between lights so the typical waves of cyclists spread out more than they do on streets that lead to the city centre. This street is a kind of ring route, about 10 minutes by bike from the city centre. It gets about 10,000 cyclists a day.

Things to look for:
A cyclist reading. A cyclist eating an apple. Elderly cyclists. A bouquet of flowers. A postal carrier on a bike. An electric scooter that our elderly or disabled citizens use.

The Cardigans - You're the Storm
Tina Dickow - Room With a View
Mireille Matheiu - Les bicyclettes de belsize
Ibens - Jeg savner min blå blå cykel [I miss my blue, blue bicycle]

Nice to hear some Danish music! It was funny, just around the time they were singing and pronouncing  "blå, blå" like "blow, blow", you could see the wind blowing the bushes around in the park on the other side of the road.

But -- *sigh* -- this SECONDARY bike path (more than twice as wide in one direction than a single direction bike lane here in Montreal) puts our MAIN bike paths in Montreal to shame for the traffic it carries.

3:30 Woman wearing helmet to push child on bike. Had to giggle a little bit there : )

word verification- puttmeth

In the village of Puttmeth, it is reported that bicycles now outnumber cars as the number one means of traveling to and from the local punting competition.

Sadly, the exact opposite currently exists in Toronto

The former Attorney General for the province killed a cyclist last night and left the scene of the accident.

JM: It's not quite as simple as the version you give...
The piece says there was some sort of collision, the biker dismounted, started slamming his backpack on the car's hood, and it escalated further from there...

That could be a nice screensaver... like those with fish in a aquarium or a fireplace.

You're right it's not that simple, hence the link to the article. The main points are the former AG killed someone & left.

I generally stop my car if something is attached to it, namely another human being. A lane like in the video here on this site would certainly help.
