A Chinese gentleman used his bicycle in a rather unique way to stop bad guys speeding away on a scooter. Brilliant stuff. Fortunately he was just a regular chap on a regular bike, so using it like this to stop a robbery was a reflex. Leaves us wondering what he would have done if he were a fetishist with an expensive hi-tech bicycle. Choose to protect the bicycle rather than making a "citizen's bicycle arrest"?
We will never know the truth.

I'm sure you're right nobody with a cargobike at 1000€ will destroy it by stopping robbers in our countries...
Goes well with http://amsterdamize.com/2009/12/07/girl-power/
there's also the detail that in western countries, we'd probably get charged with endangering life or reckless behaviour if we chucked a bike like that. robbers or no robbers. but the tabloids would love us.
That's a strange video; how coolly he steps off his bike, waits and then slams it on the scooter riders... bringing them to spark showering slide. It's the sort of perfect reaction and timing you see in a James Bond film. Cool.
You wouldn't do it with your €1000 cargobike because you couldn't lift it, never mind throw it with such precision.
unless it's a Bullitt from Larry vs Harry which is, of coursre, light enough. As you can see here
Come on Mikael, your sponsors cannot really pay you that good?
Unless that was Osama Bin Laden on the scooter, bicycle guy would have definitely been arrested in the US. Even if it was Bin Laden, he would have been chastised for taking matters into his own hands.
The swagger was very convincing, and a confirmation of Taoism, once you have done all the good you can do through action, the only reputable response is inaction. In this case, inaction as quickly as you can manifest it. Marvelous.
Moral of the story: Don't steal shit in China. If you want to steal shit, study finance, and come to the US.

Good point. Not a big fan of the whole fetish/lycra subculture.
haha. my 'sponsors' don't pay me at all.

Mikael, How often do you cycle a Bullitt as an empty frame? Aren't you missing the point of a cargo bike... ;-)
WOW! Übercool guy!
My 'sponsors' don't pay me at all.
No? If that's the case, then what's all your rage against the gear-fetishistic lycra crew about, and all the rubbish about just jumping onto any old grannybike you happen to have lying around?
Your family's bike pool is, I figure, in the $20.000 ballpark if a day. To an everyday Copenhagen biker, if you spend that kind of dosh on bikes, you are a raving gear-fanatic that needs a life.
I must admit I find your statement a bit hard to believe. So all the name-dropping of the Velorbis Scrap Deluxe (tm) is purely incidental? I mean, we agree that knowing your bike brand is totally un-cool, right?
Ah, sorry for being dense. They don't pay you, they just give you free bikes.
Sorry.
precisely. my friends, in exchange for some honest advertisting exposure, offer me a bike. bikes that i like, personally.
friends help friends. if that is a problem for some to understand, so be it.
i could have all manner of advertising on this site and Cycle Chicm, given the visitor statistics it would be profitable , but choose not to.
Don't get me wrong, I see no harm in it, and sorry for the sarcastic tone, I'd had a few pints, and maybe Jante got the better of me for a moment.
All successful bloggers gets showered with promo merchandise, and it's easy to be sanctimonious, when nobody ever gave you the chance to prove what a Spartan idealist you are, and say no thank you to a free luxury bike.
Congratulations on your sites, they rock. You have real talent.
thanks so much for that comment. brilliant. i appreciate it.
