Here's a promotional video for the city of Rotterdam, produced because the city is the host of le Grand Départ for Le Tour de France this year. [translation for non-Europeans: that big French bike is gonna start here] :-)
A splendidly-filmed advert that spared little expense in highlighting the city's bicycle culture and Citizen Cyclists.

Mikael, are you try to suggest that an American has never ridden in the Tour de France? ;-)
Thank God Rotterdam is grittier and livelier than this! (Unfortunately it's also rainier, but what are you gonna do) I feel like I was just stuck in a Getty stock video :)
Wow! Superb! The dangerization mafia are probably tasering each other and throwing up into their styrocaps: Not only do we have a princess and perhaps two princes riding hair-headed, there is also a young girl, just learning to ride a bike! (Plus the first two cyclists were using iPods or similar, pretty cool. Mikael: Is this illegal in Copenhagen or DK? I know that having someone sit on your rear rack is -- and that enforcement is another issue).
Klaus: I am indeed curious to know what Rotterdamers think about it, though the main thing is that is sets a high bar by being so positive and not preachy, and also to appeal to middle class people. I notice the intentional diversity and wonder how that works.
Aside from those people I mentioned and Joop Zoetemelk, does anyone else famous appear?
@Todd: I didn't see any princes or princesses, only Leontien van Moorsel and Michael Boogerd plus on her other side another pro cyclist whom I didn't recognize.
As a (former) Rotterdammer I don't recognize the city at all. Remarkably empty and colorfree - sanitized might be a good description.

Hah. Hardly. :-) Merely that a lot of the French-language Tour phraseology that is everyday for many Europeans is lost in translation.
I merely suggest that the average non-European wouldn't say "Hey, you going to watch the Grand Départ today?".
Never mind the cycling, in the current Dutch political-cultural climate, it's nice to hear "You and I belong here" over and over.

@Frits B - Oh, well, thought that was Maxima.
It's a great film - I like.
