Copenhagenize.com is a checkpoint on the Virtual Alleycat race hosted by Kickstand Cyclery and Cycleliciousness. You can read about it here if you have no idea what I'm talking about.
If you DO know what I'm talking about, then you're probably in the race. Welcome to Copenhagen. Enjoy the safe, smooth bicycle lanes and, not least, the beautiful creatures who inhabit them.
There are over 1300 blogposts on Copenhagenize.com. So here's a clue.
I wonder what it would sound like if the 'Sparrow from Avignon' sang the lyrics from the 'The Gambler' - in particular the chorus - in her mother tongue?
Would it, I wonder, sound like that track on the U2 album 'Achtung Baby'? By design, that is?
If that clue is too hard, feel free to whine in the comments and I'll see what I can do.
There's a Copenhagenize.com Google search field at the bottom of this page.
Good luck!

congrats...this may be the hardest clue of the race...a little help please
I'm going to wait until at least two people complain... :-) then i'll chuck in another clue...
Most of what you need to know is in this line "I wonder what it would sound like if the 'Sparrow from Avignon' sang the lyrics from the 'The Gambler' - in particular the chorus - in her mother tongue?"
fair enough
I've got the language, and translation (thank you google translate) but and I see what the second half of the clue is saying, but I have yet to put the pieces together. So close!
You gotta know when to hold em
Know when to fold em
Know when to walk away
Know when to run...
totally lost on this one :(
Not a clue! Can you take this as the second complaint? #2846
I've got what I think is the translation, but it's not getting me anywhere. I must have done something wrong.
Hmm. Maybe if I think about the second part of the clue a little harder?
great clue. 5827
@Mikael: I know the singer is French, and I know "The Gambler," and I even know where your checkpoint page is at, but I still can't find a connection between the French word for fold and your checkpoint page.
Props to you for an interesting riddle, but can you pass along another clue?
Now that I got it, I can't believe it took me so long. Oh well. Good luck all!

Yep, definitely confused - I feel like I'm thisclose but all of the search terms I try don't pull anything up. Help?
#1186
nationality of The Sparrow of Avignon?
Snippet of lyrics from The Gambler?
Alternatively, run song names from Achtung Baby through the site's Google.
Has the quick answer culture of the internet killed riddle culture?
:-)
I think I've spend like an hour looking!
Le sigh.

OH. Found it. That makes sense.
Hmm, Found it after a lot of searching- not sure why it didn't come up the first time I searched all the names...
Kept getting distracted reading interesting posts!

#1330 is glad to FINALLY be done with this one. I hope there are no more that deal with music or musicians (especially rock music!).

mrben #3089 - had to leave work and walk for 90 minutes to get home. Got a feeling I've lost this now :(
Don't worry. I had to walk away because i was so frustrated.
THis seems a bit esoteric. I don't know French, I don't like Kenny Rogers, or really U2 for that matter. I have searched all of the songs on Achtung Baby and come up with bubkis.
WTF Mate? (since we are quoting that video on here).
#4811 - Ok, this was difficult. Finally found it but still don't quite get the references.

Don't get it #4776
It took me a very long time to realize that there was a second search bar at the BOTTOM of the page that returns completely different results than the search bar at the top.
Allium - 8247
This was a tough one.
Richard #4540
Since I thought it was so obvious from The Gambler and U2 references I didn't bother with fretting over the French bits and got it pretty quickly.
Just following along for the fun of it, not taking part.
Debbie #4848
Once again for the back row... :-)
What is the nationality of The Sparrow of Avignon?
Find the lyrics of The Gambler. In the chorus there is a clue. Bike-related. Refering to a kind of bicycle. Think origami.
Or just search song names from the Achtung Baby album in the Google search bar at the very bottom of each page on the blog. Do it in order of the songs on the album if you want to go quicker. Wink wink.

Started up a Pandora U2 station after this search. Nice! Thanks for helping run the alleycat!

No complaining from me, the early-risers made it easy :)

I finally made it. It is amazing what a little sleep will do for the thought processes.
I needed the extra clue.

So far this is the hardest clue of the race! I still haven't found the page. What happens if I don't find it, am I stuck?

I have been doing this since 0900 local and it's now 1833. I spent hours on one site looking for the graphic that wasn't there, spent more time trying to post a comment to a article that wouldn't take comments and now this riddle. Can I has my brain bak naow plz?
Brain still hurtz, but I found it
I love it when a site lives on merit and knows if it is good enough, people will come back and vist, not because you are forced to struggle around
#6669

#9918 I am joining the alleycat! It sounds great.
But, I can't fully understand the rule. Would you teach me about "check point"? m(_ _)m. But it does not matter. I will read many blog and comment something I feel honestly. Thank you, copenhagenize, Mikael.
Stumbled into it. Clues were not helpful to me sadly.

Apparently this clue involves some cultural references that I'm completely out of the loop on. I'm totally lost. Exhausted. I think I just bonked in this alleycat race...
