Bicycles and Fighter Jets

Saw this photo in a Danish newspaper, Politiken, this morning. The Danish air force sent F-16 jets to Sicily today and this photo shows one of the planes being prepared for duty. I love that there are two classic Danish short john bicycles parked next to them. The bicycle used when maintaining expensive fighter jets.

Six F-16s fly off this morning to take part in the global push to battle a dictator who is slaughtering civilians... No... not Yemen, silly! They only have sand and dead civilians! We mean Libya, of course. They have oil and dead civilians. So off we go to war.

like the vacuum cleaner - a modest, useful tool. Much more versatile than the vacuum cleaner though.

I was reporting from a Finnish KFOR camp in Kosovo and noticed the Finns used bicycles in "commuting" around the military camp. Plus the technicians used cargo bikes to haul patrol car parts and other equipment for short distances.

Couple of photos and text, in finnish

Great picture and nice blog. Cheap shot about the no fly zone being about oil though :-(

This is one of my favorite blogs and the pic on today's post is a nice one. But I agree with Anonymous your comment about the no-fly zone doesn't stand ground. Are you seriously comparing the situation in Libya and Yemen?

I suspect oil has something to do with it. If nothing else, Kaddafi has a big checkbook to raise hell with.

Those heavy, industrial bikes are probably used for towing the jets around the tarmac
