Such beautiful images and you can see the car hardly anywhere.

@Anonymous - I'm not sure what the song is called, buts its lifted from the Poul Henningsen movie 'Danmark' released in 1935.

How nostalgic both the music and the figures are! I noticed that some people seated their children on the frame while riding their bikes. I sometimes do the same thing while riding my mountain bike. To tell the truth it is not so dangerous. Kids are always happy. Thank you.

There are a number scenes, e.g. at 1.08 where seemingly hundreds of people on bikes are moving smoothly. One doesn't need much imagination what would happen on a similar sized road were they all driving cars, given typical car occupancy figures.

Writing from car-clogged Greater London, our much-vaunted 'progress', isn't what it's cracked-up to be.

But of course, bicycles slow down cars and cause traffic-jams, except that this just isn't true, despite being repeatedly claimed by petrol-heads.

BTW. Lovely compilation of clips.

Re: shuichi and childhood happiness,

Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark and Finland are the top four countries for child well-being, and shamefully, the UK languishes in 21st place out of twenty-one, behind the USA. As David Hembrow pointed-out, those first four countries are also the top four for cycling.
