Forgive me, but I don't see all the great things that are evident from green bike lanes other than the colour to distinguish it from the regular road surface. Instead of making a big deal out of the "professionals" that are required to paint the roadway they could spend more money instead on actual bike infrastructure.
Do we know if this is an FDOT road?
OMG... 1:10: "this is a highly specialised job, done by highly skilled workers..."compare to real cycling infrastructure: http://hembrow.blogspot.com/2011/06/rolling-out-red-carpet-for-cyclists.html
It seems a little pointless to waste all the paint on coloring the lane when they could invest that money on extending the bike infrastructure. On a note related to Florida bicycling, if you are interested in a quiet vacation to a place with Gulf beaches and lots of bike lanes, check out Sanibel!!
"Highly specialized job"? Just have a look at Guadalajara's (MX) "guerilla style" bike lanes...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFUbrme9V0Mhttp://www.treehugger.com/files/2011/01/guerilla-diy-bike-lane-guadalajara-citizens-video.php
